Lead Water Lines

If you live in Broad Ripple, Meridian Kessler or in an older home, there is a good chance you have a small section of lead piping in your water line. When the homes in the area were built, it was common practice to run lead piping from the "city water main" to the home. In some cases, the lead line was run from the "city water main" all the way in to the house. If this is the case, you would be able to see the lead pipe coming in to the house. In other cases, the lead piping would be run from the "city water main" to the shut-off valve out in your yard where it would transition to galvanized piping. In either case, there is a piece of lead piping in the water line feeding your home.
